TECHNOLOGY stocks resumed their rally on Wall Street after some early profit taking, keeping the Nasdaq Stock Market's record-setting rise on track.
Bargain hunting lifted blue-chip issues from steep losses and the Dow Jones industrial average gained 13.01 points to close at 5,566.91, rallying from a deficit of 45 points in early afternoon.
Other broad-market indexes also turned higher after spending much of the session in negative territory.
NYSE volume totalled 462.12 million shares, against 493.34 million in the previous session.
The NYSE's composite index rose 1.33 to 350.29. The Standard and Poor's 500-stock index rose 2.70 to 652.87. The Nasdaq composite index rose 6.37 to 1,183.20.
At the American Stock Exchange, the market value index rose 2.41 to 591.46.
