THE fixtures and fittings from the now defunct St George Fitness Centre, on South Great George's Street, Dublin will be sold at auction at the weekend. It is understood that Fitcorp, the company which ran the club, has debts well in excess of £300,000.

The gym closed suddenly two weeks ago, and a receiver, Mr Julian Caplin, of Caplin Meehan Chartered Accountants was appointed by Magnum Holdings, the landlord of the building. This company is understood to be owed around £120,000 while the Revenue Commissioners is owed £100,000.

It is understood that a number of people had paid sub scriptions to the gymnasium, shortly before its closure. The gym, which had over 1,000 members also had several corporate memberships. Annual subscriptions began at around £400.

The equipment, including a range of exercise equipment will be sold on the premises on Saturday next, May 7th at 2 p.m. The sale is being handled by David Tracey & Sons, Auctioneers.
