£50,000 to invest:
A fine piece of Irish Georgian (1714 to 1830) furniture would be a good buy for someone with £50,000 to invest. Mr Cole suggests a good carved mahogany hall table with perhaps a carved human mask.

Buy a painting: Stewart Cole of James Adams says you could choose between some 20th century Irish artists. He would advise a good William Conor pastel of scenes in Northern Ireland, a Dan O'Neill or a Mary Swanzy. A good buy, but much harder to find, would be a work of Nano Reid or Camille Souter, he suggests.
