ARCON Mines has awarded a £750,000 a year contract to Coolwagon, the Kilkenny transport company. The contract involves the transport of mineral concentrates from Arcon's zinc/ lead mine at Galmoy, Co Kilkenny, to a new port storage facility at New Ross, Co Wexford, for onward export to smelters in continental Europe. It will cover a five year period. Coolwagon will create 10 new jobs as a result of the contract. The agreement involves the manufacture of seven specially designed trailers being constructed by Dennison Brothers of Naas, Co Kildare, at a cost of more than £60,000 each.
