Constitutional changes in the United Kingdom and the Republic along with the development of new North/South and East/West structures between the countries will provide new opportunities for economic co-operation between the two.

Speaking at the Encounter economic conference, "Managing Our Economies" in Dublin yesterday, the Northern Ireland Economy Minister, Mr John McFall, said enlargement of the EU would shift its core to the east and the UK and Irish economies will become a less central part.
