AIB Corporate Banking has appointed Mr Martin Slattery as executive with responsibility for the new AIB Corporate Banking office in Warsaw, Poland. The new unit will support WBK Bank, targeting the foreign direct investment sector.

Ms Margaret Fitzgerald has been appointed chief specialist, public health by the Food Safety Authority of Ireland (FSAI). Her responsibilities will include managing and developing programmes for the protection of the public from foodborne diseases, and providing advice and support in the industry.

Mr Wayne Anderson has been appointed chief specialist, food science by the FSAI, joining the authority from Leitrim Foods where he was technical manager.

Cambridge Technology Partners, the consulting and systems integration firm, has appointed Mr Tom Trainor as commercial director of Irish operations. Mr Trainor, originally from Co Down, was formerly sales director, corporate business, at Telecom Eireann. He holds a languages degree, an MBA from the Michael Smurfit Graduate School of Business, UCD, and a diploma in direct marketing.

Mr Patrick Shortall has been appointed non-executive chairman of the Euroscreen Group, one of the State's largest print companies. He is currently chairman of Lake Holdings, deputy chairman of McInerney Holdings and a director of several other companies.

Mr Joe Ganly ACII has been appointed deputy chief executive of Assicurazioni Generali SpA, the insurance group.

Ms Hilary McDonald has been appointed sales manager at the Slevin Group, the supplier of stationery, furniture and business gifts to the corporate market. Ms McDonald previously worked as a sales representative with Marketel.

Vantage Wholesale has appointed Ms Christine Desmond marketing manager with responsibility for developing the Costcutter and Swift retail groups. Ms Desmond joined Vantage in 1998 as customer services manager. A graduate of the Marketing Institute, she has held positions with Murphy Brewery, Park Tower Group in New York, and the European Parliament.

Mr Oliver Savage has been appointed sales manager for the Costcutter group, having previously worked in retail management for Dunnes and Londis.

Mr Bernard Kearney has been appointed customer relationship manager at JLS Computer, the company formed from a management buyout of Unisys in the Republic in 1997.
