THE Institute of Incorporated Public Accountants (IIPA) has criticised at the Chartered Association of Certified Accountants (ACCA) over statements it allegedly made about exams. The statement made to the effect that IIPA never hold exams, or have never held exams are entirely untrue and without foundation whatsoever", it said, noting that it has held exams since it was incorporated in 1982. A spokesman for ACCA said he was surprised at the IIPA statement and was "unaware they had held exams". The statement by the IIPA followed the High Court proceeding taken by the ACCA, against the IIPA, for allegedly plagiarising its syllabus.
The row between the IIPA and other accounting bodies has been simmering since the Mr Pat Rabbitte, Minister of State at the Department of Enterprise and Employment, granted it statutory recognition.
