Unions at ACC have again called for a merger with TSB. The ACCBank unions called on the directors to make a "clear and unambiguous" statement at the bank's board meeting early next week.

The unions also want a firm recommendation from the directors to the Minister for Finance, Mr McCreevy, on the issue.

ICTU general secretary Mr Peter Cassells has written to the Minister, stating that the support of staff in both organisations is important and should facilitate the discussions between ACC and TSB.
