CLERYS, the department stores group, increased its profit before tax from £286,716 to £536,148 in the year to January 31st 1995. Sales fell from £22.8 million to £22.3 million.

The figures for Clery & Co (1941), the plc which owns the stores group, published by CFI Online, show a rise in shareholders' funds from £6.07 million to £6.16 million. Most of this, £5.5 million, is in revenue reserves.

The group is in a strong financial position with cash of £2.05 million, down from £2.8 million previously. Its O'Connell Street, Dublin premises, are valued at £2.4 million in its balance sheet.
