NFL DIVISION THREE Westmeath 2-12 Tipperary 2-9:PAUL GREVILLE'S late goal gave Westmeath their first win in 17 NFL outings as they beat a fancied Tipperary at Thurles yesterday.
Greville’s goal climaxed a great last 20 minutes for Westmeath.
Tipperary looked well placed at half-time. Barry Grogan’s penalty goal in the 23rd minute helped Tipp to be on level terms, 1-3 to 0-6 at the interval, after playing into the stiff breeze.
Westmeath had points from Fergal Wilson and Simon Quinn on resuming but then Tipperary hit four points without reply and a goal by George Hannigan and an immediate Brian Mulvihill point put them five clear.
But David Glennon blasted home a penalty kick to spark the Westmeath revival. Points by Francis Boyle and Glennon levelled the game in the 67th minute before Greville scored the winner.
