French 2000 Guineas winner Victory Note looks set to be the first horse to be supplemented for a race at Royal Ascot.

Peter Chapple-Hyam's charge was set to run in today's Irish 2000 Guineas, but a late change of mind by owners Robert Sangster and John Magnier sees the colt rerouted to the St James's Palace Stakes.

Although he missed the April 22nd entry stage, Victory Note can make use of the supplementary entry deadline of June 10th at a cost of £20,000.

Although this facility was available last year it was not used, so provided he stays clear of illness or injury in the interim, Victory Note will become the first colt to be added to the original entries.

"The supplementary entry was brought in for exactly this kind of case," said Ascot's clerk of the course, Nick Cheyne.

"The St James's Palace Stakes and Coronation Stakes often bring together the principals from all the main European Guineas races and it would have been a major blow to have missed a Classic winner like Victory Note at Royal Ascot."

Should he be supplemented, Victory Note's participation would see the prize money for the Group One event boosted to £235,000.
