Trinity turn possession into tries

DUBLIN UNIVERSITY...23 UCD..

DUBLIN UNIVERSITY...23 UCD...19Tries from left wing Eoin Condron and second row Darren Hayes, in the final quarter, guaranteed Trinity College a place in the All-Ireland Under-20 Championship final at the expense of rivals UCD at Belfield last night.

It was Trinity's ability to turn possession into tries that made the difference in the end. They outscored UCD by four trys to one with number eight Jamie Heaslip and full back Brian Butterwick giving them the edge from first-half tries and a 13-9 lead.

It looked as though UCD might turn things around when centre Simon Morrissey crossed for a converted try in the 56th minute to make it 16-13 to the home side.

But Trinity were clinical in taking their chances. Condron intercepted 10 metres from his own line for a length-of-the-field try and Hayes burst clear off a maul in the 77th min.
