Lambourn trainer Barry Hills has seven runners in five of the seven races on the opening day of the York August meeting and can be rewarded with a treble.
The Glow-Worm in the Great Voltigeur Stakes, Rainbow High in the Melrose Handicap and Cadeaux Cher in the Eagle Lane Handicap look the pick of the Hills raiding party.
The Glow-Worm can book his place in the St Leger with victory in the Stakis Casinos-sponsored Great Voltigeur, the most recognised of all trials for next month's Doncaster Classic.
Although he has not run since his strong-finishing sixth to HighRise in the Derby at Epsom in June, the son of Doyoun runs well fresh and made a winning debut at both two and three years.
Hills's horses were out of sorts in midsummer but have come back with a bang in the last few weeks. The Glow-Worm may have the race run to suit him as Hills also saddles Prolix, who made much of the running when fifth in the French Derby.
Three of The Glow-Worm's rivals are also in the Leger - Courteous, Peak Path and Sea Wave - with the last-named likely to give the selection the most to do.
Rainbow High looks a good bet in the Melrose Rated Stakes over the Ebor distance of an extended 13 furlongs. He ran out a smooth one-length winner from Kadir on his reappearance in a Ripon maiden in June and can confirm the form with the Marcus Tregoning-trained colt.
Next time he made his handicap debut in a competitive 12-furlong affair at Goodwood and was an excellent three-quarter length second to Muhib. Originally aimed at the Ebor itself, he can take this £30,000-added consolation prize.
Cadeaux Cher has epitomised the resurgence in Hills's fortunes by completing a hat-trick in just over three weeks. His latest victory came in the Great St Wilfrid at Ripon on Saturday when Ray Cochrane brought him with a perfectly-timed run to beat Emerging Market. A 9lb penalty may not prevent the in-form four-year-old sprinter stretching his winning run in the 23-runner Eagle Lane Handicap.
The feature race on the card, the £335,000-added Juddmonte International Stakes, can go to Exclusive. The Michael Stoute-trained filly was third in the 1000 Guineas and then lifted the Group One Coronation Stakes at Royal Ascot.
She should appreciate the step up from a mile to 10 furlongs and can put the colts of her own generation as well as her elders in their place.
Iscan can give Stoute a great start to the meeting by taking the opening Acomb Stakes after his promising debut when third to Compton Admiral and Killer Instinct at Ascot last month.
Canon Can, runner-up to Double Trigger in the Goodwood Cup, can go one better in the Lonsdale Stakes.
