All-Ireland club quarter-finals / Gaeltacht 3-12 Tara, London 1-8: Playing a brand of football far above anything seen at this venue for some years, Gaeltacht had little difficulty in sailing past Tara in yesterday's All-Ireland club quarter-final at Ruislip.
Early pressure from the home team resulted in a long-range point by Stephen Lynch but once the visitors settled down they soon had the game under control with their attack in which Dara Ó Cinnéide, Aodán Mac Gearailt and Tomás Ó Conchúir proving more than handful for a defence under pressure for long periods.
A goal 15 minutes into the game by the outstanding Darragh Ó Sé put the match beyond Tara's reach and while they battled bravely till the end, they were never seriously in contention after going into the break eight points in arrears.
Full back Marc Ó Sé and centrehalf Tomás Ó Sé were the kingpins in the winners' defence, while midfielder Pól Ó Cuinn was outstanding, despite being opposed by the losers' best player, Paul Hehir.
The long-serving Pat Rafter proved to be Tara's most consistent defender and others to impress for the losers were Senan Hehir, Martin Murtagh and Jason Ryan.
