National Football League: Division Two B: Cavan yesterday picked up their second brace of points at Breffni Park in a dour game, with referee Frank Flynn taking centre-stage. The continuity of the football was broken far too often due to stoppages for injuries and the issuing of yellow cards.
Cavan had the initial benefit of a very strong breeze, but by half-time their lead was a meagre four points, 0-8 to 1-1, which must have been worrying for the team management and home fans.
In fact, Wicklow looked the more positive side in the early exchanges and were boosted by a goal from Wayne O'Gorman after six minutes. However, there was a boost for Cavan three minutes into the second half when they scored a decisive goal from Jason Reilly to lead by 1-8 to 1-1 and to leave no way back for Wicklow.
