Gaelic Games/Kerry suspensions: Kerry referee Gearóid O'Regan has spoken in the aftermath of the penalties handed down by the Kerry County Board on Monday night when he gave an extensive interview on Radio Kerry.

He outlined the positives that have come out of this saga and maintained the GAA authorities in the county have shown strength in the way they have handled the whole affair.

"I would like to think what happened to me was an isolated incident and the association has shown strength in what they have done afterwards," he said. "I think that, by and large, having the likes of Pat Horan and Willie Barrett ringing me, along with other referees around the country, shows what a tight-knit community we have as referees and we get on well, and that's what it is all about. I am looking forward to many more years in charge of the whistle and I hope that things will go well."

When asked if he thought about quitting after the blows he took, O'Regan was adamant that it never entered his head.
