Wicklow SFC Final replay: Rathnew 0-11 Bray Emmets 0-6 Champions Rathnew took their eight title in a row at Aughrim yesterday, thus equalling the record set by Baltinglass in the mid-90s.
Thanks to the accuracy of Conor Flannery, Bray led the champions for most of the first half. It took two points in the last 10 minutes of the period from Tommy Gill to edge Rathnew in front 0-4 to 0-3 at the break.
They turned on the style in the second half as the introduction of James Stafford as a midfield partner for Darren Coffey proved influential. Gill increased their lead with a point after just 30 seconds and Ronan Coffey put a penalty shot over for a point. The game was effectively over when Rathnew stretched their lead to 0-8 to 0-3 in the third quarter.
