Ciaran Power had his fourth top 10 placing in the British Prutour yesterday when he finished ninth on stage six, over 103 miles from Liverpool to Blackpool, and his performance has attracted the attention of managers of some of the professional teams.
American champion George Hincapie of the US Postal Service won from Piotr Wadecki (MROZ), and a minute and 12 seconds later Power was again prominent in the sprint for third place from a group of 30 along the straight mile of Blackpool's promenade. The first two positions overall were reversed as Marc Wauters (Rabobank) earned four seconds in bonuses in two sprints and he went two seconds ahead of Benoit Joachim (US Postal) going into stage seven this morning of 92 miles from Carlisle to Edinburgh. There is then the final 30 miles criterium there in the afternoon.
Power is 19th overall and fifth in the points classification.
