SCOTLAND'S Mike Miller won his first tournament in 17 years when he triumphed in a three way play-off for the £65,000 Kenya Open Golf championship in Nairobi yesterday.
Miller had lost three previous tournament play-offs but this time he beat Londoner Robert Lee and English club professional Philip Harrison at the first extra hole after they had all tied on the 12-under-par total of 272.
He was the only player to hit the green at the 13th and carried off the £10,500 first prize with a par three.
Forty-four-year old Miller almost let his chance of victory slip away when he dropped two shots in his last three holes. In contrast, Lee had birdied two of the last four holes to catch him and Harrison had set the target with a last round of 64, the best score of the week.
Fourth place went to former England amateur international Warren Bennell on 275 and a further shot back was Wentworth-based Mark Nichols.
