Wicklow had no answer to Derry's Geoffrey McGonigle, who scored 1-7 in the National Hurling League Division Two final at Navan yesterday.
Derry led by 1-9 to 0-5 at the break with McGonigle finishing to the net after 17 minutes. With Don Hyland sending over some fine points, Wicklow battled back but two McGonigle frees settled Derry in the hectic closing stages.
