Leinster SHC / Naomh Eoin 6-10 Knockbridge 2-5: Naomh Eoin of Carlow simply blew away the challenge of Louth's Knockbridge in this one-sided AIB Leinster club first round replay at Dr Cullen Park, Carlow, yesterday.
Naomh Eoin's reward is a home tie on Sunday next at the same venue against Leinster and All-Ireland club champions Birr of Offaly.
That will present an entirely different ball game for Naomh Eoin who were totally dominant yesterday, and one had to wonder how they had to depend on an injury-time equaliser eight days earlier to force a draw on Louth's soil.
By half-time yesterday Naomh Eoin had stormed into a 3-6 to 0-3 lead, with the Murphy brothers, Des and Brian, bagging a goal each, along with another from centre forward Robert Foley.
Knockbridge had no answer to the superior hurling of the Carlow champions, whose half-back line of Kenneth Nolan, Shane Kavanagh and Trevor Minchin was their strongest unit.
Consolation goals for Knockbridge arrived from centre forward Padraic Kieran and right corner forward Shane Kerrigan.
