TOP JOCKEY Seamus Heffernan has withdrawn his appeal against the four-day suspension picked up at Gowran Park last Friday when he was found guilty of an “injudicious” ride on board the Aidan O’Brien-trained Drumbeat.

Heffernan let his intention to appeal the decision to the Turf Club’s appeals and referrals committee be known on Sunday, but he has now changed his mind.

The dual Irish Derby-winning rider was initially infuriated by the stewards’ decision at Gowran where Drumbeat finished runner- up to his stable companion Hail Caesar after Heffernan appeared to leave his challenge too late on the even-money favourite.
