Longford SF Final replay: Clonguish 0-11 Ballymahon 1-1 Clonguish won the Longford senior title for the first time since 1981 thanks to a convincing win over the holders, Ballymahon, in a replay at wet and windy Pearse Park yesterday.
Clonguish were far superior, even though Ballymahon briefly led when Mark Connor fired home a goal in the 20th minute.
That left the champions 1-0 to 0-2 ahead but Clonguish quickly regained control, firing four points without reply through Paddy Dowd (two), Paul Barden and Enda Barden to lead 0-6 to 1-0 at the break.
Things went from bad to worse for Ballymahon, who managed just one more score, a free converted by Frankie Dolan.
Clonguish, meanwhile, added points from Enda Barden and Paddy Dowd and continued to dominate, posting three more scores, with corner forward Joe O'Brien notching two from play.
