STEPHEN GEOGHEGAN'S contribution to the remarkable form of Shelbourne over the past couple of months was recognised yesterday when he was selected as the Soccer Writers' Opel Player of the Month for February.

Geoghegan (above), who won the Personality of the Year award in 1994 after helping Shamrock Rovers to the championship but who subsequently struggled to find his best form after moving across the city, has been finding the net regularly again this season and he is currently the league's top scorer with 15 goals.

Geoghegan is the fourth Shelbourne player to pick up the monthly award this season.
