Chelsea have major concerns about Arjen Robben after scans of his damaged foot were inconclusive due to the amount of swelling and bruising.

The Dutch winger left Blackburn on crutches on Wednesday night after being hurt in a tackle by Aaron Mokoena and has not walked on the foot since.

Manager Jose Mourinho said: "There are no conclusions for the moment. The only conclusion is big, big pain. Arjen cannot walk, he cannot put his foot on the floor and he is immobilised.

"The examinations are not conclusive at the moment because the inflammatory process is really big. Because of all the blood and fluid showing in the scan, they can't understand yet whether it is a fracture or not, or whether there is damage in a ligament or not." Robben is certain to miss Chelsea's match with Manchester City at Stamford Bridge tomorrow.

Mourinho has hit out at the scheduling of the next set of Premiership fixtures, which he believes will give players from their title rivals extra time to recover following the midweek international matches.

All of the league games involving the top three clubs will be broadcast live by Sky over three days next weekend.

However, while Chelsea must play Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday lunchtime, the Manchester derby does not kick off until Sunday afternoon, while Arsenal have got until Monday evening before they entertain strugglers Crystal Palace.

And it is a scenario which has left the Chelsea manager less than pleased.

Mourinho said: "I have been here for six or seven months so I am still new and there are a few things I don't understand well.

"One of the things is who is controlling the matches on television and who decides which game is on Saturday, which is on Sunday and which is on Monday? I cannot understand why it is always the same team with the difficult task. Somebody is in charge, somebody is controlling, somebody is deciding and somebody is always giving us the difficult task.

The Chelsea boss added: "I also want to play on Monday, I don't want to go to Everton on Saturday.

"Is Chelsea versus Everton a more important game that has to be on Saturday at 12.45? More important than Villa versus Arsenal or Man City versus Man United? What is the criteria? Who decides because I don't know? I need answers."

Mourinho believes the scheduling could be detrimental to his side's title chances.

"Every game after international weeks we have lost points so now maybe it is time to lose points again," he said.
