Longford Town 0 Drogheda United  0Drogheda United remain three points clear of Longford Town in the Eircom League Premier Division following Saturday night's dismal draw at Flancare Park.

Without question, Drogheda were the better team on the night, especially early on, creating four clear-cut chances in the opening half hour.

Mark Quinless, Pat Scully, Declan O'Brien and Andy Myler all went close for the rampant visitors by the 26th minute.

Scully was particularly unlucky as his 12th minute drive at the Longford goal was kept out only by the crossbar.

Longford didn't have a single shot on target in the opening half of the game and had to wait until the 48th minute before Alan Kirby blasted wide with a shot from just outside the penalty area.

They did however manage to create the best chance of the game in the 53rd minute. Sean Prunty sent in a superb cross that was met by a fine Sean Francis header.

The ball looked like it would sail past Drogheda goalkeeper Gary Rogers but the tall netminder somehow managed to spread himself to push the ball away for a corner.
