Wicklow SF Final: Rathnew 0-8 Bray Emmet's 1-5 Rathnew, bidding to equal the record of eight county titles in a row, nearly saw their dreams shattered at Aughrim yesterday by an Emmet's side endeavouring to bridge a 68-year gap to the last time they won the title in 1935.
It took a 57th-minute point from Rathnew centre forward and top scorer Trevor Doyle to save the day for the champions and send this final to a replay next Sunday (3.30 p.m.). The sides were level at 0-2 each at the break after a lot of scrappy play.
