In cycling, Enda Smyth took two seconds off his own Irish record in the Men’s Individual C1-2-3 1km race against the clock.
Smyth, who broke his elbow two months ago, finished 16th out of the 28 competitors and was ranked 7th of the C3 riders.
Rena McCarron Rooney lost her opening match in the Table Tennis Women’s Singles F1-2 preliminaries at the ExCel Arena to France’s Isabelle Lafaye Marziou and will tomorrow face Jordan’s Maha Bargouthi at 11.40am.
Eimear Breathnach also lost her opening match to Italy’s Pamela Pezzutto and tomorrow will play France’s Florence Sireau.
Philip Quinlan lost his first game in the Table Tennis Men’s Singles M1 preliminaries to France’s Jean-Francois Ducay. He is scheduled to play against Great Britain’s Robert Davies at 12.20pm tomorrow.
