Cork City - 0 UCD - 0 Cork City stretched their unbeaten run to eight matches but were bitterly disappointed not to pick up three points at Turner's Cross last night.
UCD defied Cork with a stubborn defensive performance in the second half after drawing the fire of an off-colour Cork in the opening half. Indeed UCD matched Cork for effort and were not flattered to pick up a point for a plucky display.
In the process they severely damaged Cork's prospects of securing a place in European competition next season.
Cork were much improved after the break without ever threatening to break down UCD's concentrated defence.
The students were well-organised and hard-working and Cork found it almost impossible to get a clear sight of Patrick Jennings' goal.
