Eamonn Coghlan will now never relinquish his honorary title "Chairman of the Boards". Coghlan's total domination of the fabled Wanamaker Mile with seven wins at the Millrose games during his time will not be equalled because there will no longer be boards in the arena.
The rights of the games have been purchased by a sports marketing firm called Octagon who intend to replace the New York's Madison Square Garden track.
The Garden's rickety wooden oval will soon become a state of the art synthetic Mondo surface. The more modern track will give athletes a better surface which will hopefully lead to less pile-ups and slipages.
