Tony Carr produced his best golf to win the North Western Alliance outing at Rosapenna. The seven-handicapper from Ballybofey and Stranorlar shot a four-under-par 66 to win the nett from David Lynn (Ballyliffin) by two shots. Ballyliffin players also filled the next two places with Des Kemmy shooting a 69 and John D O'Kane a 70. The gross prize went to Brian McElhinney from the North West club who shot a three-over-par 73. Barry McMenamin (Ballybofey and Stranorlar) was second on 75 with City of Derry's plus-two handicapper Michael McGeady also on 75.
Meanwhile 87 members braved the elements at Westport last week for the Christy O'Connor Jnr Oyster Society outing where the honours went to Michael Kennedy from Co Sligo. The 20-handicapper returned 42 points to win by three from Joe McInerney (Gort) and Gerry Kavanagh (Ballaghdereen). Gavin McGranaghan (Galway) won the gross with 35 points.
