RACING: John Oxx has pinpointed the Breeders' Cup Turf in Santa Anita at the end of October as a possible culmination for Alamshar's momentous three-year-old campaign.

The Irish Derby and King George hero is currently being prepared for next month's Irish Champion Stakes and a likely clash with last year's Derby winner High Chaparral.

The leopardstown feature will be a kick-off to the second half of the season for Alamshar who has a number of trans-Atlantic options. "The Breeders' Cup and Canadian International at Woodbine are possible races for him. They are only a week apart so he could only run in one and the Breeders' Cup looks the obvious target.

"It will be the end of a long year for him by then, and any number of things could happen before that, but Santa Anita is something we are looking at," Oxx said yesterday.

Dalakhani, beaten by Alamshar in a classic Irish Derby finish, and also owned by the Aga Khan, is currently favourite for the Prix de l'Arc de Triomphe but Oxx is not ruling out the Paris highlight just yet for his stable star. "The plan all along has been that Dalakhani would be more suited to the Arc because he handles all sorts of ground, including soft.

"We are not so sure about our fellow on soft and I have said that publicly in case people were betting on him ante-post for the Arc.

"But no definite decision has been taken. It will depend on the state of the going on the day, how Dalakhani gets on between now and then and probably a hundred other things.

"A final decision won't be taken until much closer the time and now we are concentrating on the next race. Everything seems fine at the moment for Leopardstown," he said.

Alamshar's rider Johnny Murtagh has had a less than happy time with the stewards in the last week and the former champion has decided to appeal the €2,000 fine incurred at the Curragh on Sunday for failing to make the weight on two booked rides.

Before that Murtagh and Oxx will be involved at Gowran tonight where Sharesha should break her duck at the third time of asking in the mile fillies maiden.
