Australian centre Cooper due to appear on burglary charge on Friday

AUSTRALIA INTERNATIONAL Quade Cooper has been charged with one count of burglary by Queensland Police, according to reports

AUSTRALIA INTERNATIONAL Quade Cooper has been charged with one count of burglary by Queensland Police, according to reports. The 21-year-old allegedly robbed a Surfers Paradise residence yesterday morning. The Queensland centre was detained before being released later in the day. He is now due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on December 11th.

The news comes just a week after Cooper completed Australia's mixed tour of Europe. His form as the replacement for the injured Berrick Barnes was seen as one of the few positives to come out of the tour.

The centre made his international debut in November 2008, coming off the bench against Italy and scoring in a 30-20 Wallabies victory. He has played nine Tests for Australia, including all four of their Grand Slam tour last month.

Cooper plays for Queensland Reds in the Super 14, and a spokesman for the club declined to comment but said they would "establish the full facts of the matter" before deciding whether any action would be taken.

"We are still looking to receive the full facts of the issue," added an Australian Rugby Union spokesman.

"It's a matter before the courts so at this stage we can't make any further comment."

Cooper is on holiday and was scheduled to return to pre-season training with the Reds next month.
