Cricket

After missing out in 2024, Ireland are participating in the 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, which is being held in various locations around England. This week, the Irish face two very tough games in Southampton – against hosts England and reigning champions New Zealand. – Tuesday and Friday, Sky Sports

Horse racing

Held over five days every June, Royal Ascot is considered to be Britain’s most valuable race meeting. There will be eight Group One races, including the Queen Anne Stakes (Tuesday), Prince of Wales’s Stakes (Wednesday), Gold Cup (Thursday), Coronation Stakes (Friday) and Queen Elizabeth II Jubilee Stakes (Saturday). - Tuesday-Saturday, UTV & Virgin Media

Golf

The US Open - the third of the four men’s majors – takes place this week at Shinnecock Hills Golf Club in New York. Rory McIlroy - who was tournament runner-up twice in the last three years, and was winner in 2011 at just 22 years of age – will, of course, be among the favourites. - Thursday-Sunday, Sky Sports
