Madam, - Simon McDonnell (September 9th) poses perhaps the most important question facing Irish society today: "Do Sinn Féin/IRA get to play by different rules?"
The answer, unfortunately, is that even though they have played by different rules for the past 30 years, new rules are constantly being made for Sinn Féin and for them alone. If you listen to RTÉ, if you need to meet a Government Minister, if you want approval to break agreements, or be a part-time democrat, the situation is clear. Sinn Féin and Sinn Féin alone are allowed to play by different rules and increasingly to get away with it.
Surely it is long past time that Sinn Féin - the most hypocritical political party on the island of Ireland - was challenged and exposed for what it is. - Yours, etc.,
Cllr DERMOT LACEY, Beech Hill Drive, Donnybrook, Dublin 4.
