Perhaps An Post could generate some badly needed revenue from this. It could sell vanity addresses to people, with the postal district of their choice. There would be a real cost, as delivering mail to virtual addresses would demand new procedures, but there is plenty of vanity out there to capitalise on.

They'd probably have to draw the line at the national boundaries; you couldn't use an address in Portugal, say, and have your post delivered in Ireland. - Yours, etc.,
