Sir, - Congratulations for a fine article by Aine McCarthy on the New Lad Culture ("Men Behaving Sadly", February 12th). As someone who shares many of the interests of so called New Lad Culture, I find the phenomenon both embarrassing and infantile, and the Irish attempts to emulate it, such as In Dnblin magazine, even more pathetic.
don't agree that the Oasis boys should be lumped in, however. In many ways their persona, and certainly their music, is the antithesis of New Lad. However, your article was witty and spot on. Scorcher! - Yours, etc.,
