Madam, - Now that Sam Maguire has crossed the Blackwater from my own county of Armagh into Tyrone and rightful praise has been showered upon Peter Canavan and Mickey Harte, please permit me to add the reporters of your erudite newspaper to the sporting roll of honour.
In the year since my county won the supreme accolade the reporting in other Dublin newspapers wasn't in the same league. At times, in analysis of Armagh's style, achievement and potential, it was downright insulting. Not so Sean Moran and above all Tom Humphries. He has elevated Gaelic sports reporting to literature. This high standard has consoled us mightily in the week that was in it. - Yours, etc.,
