Sir, - On Tuesday morning's AA Roadwatch slot on RTE radio, a spokesperson claimed that traffic congestion had increased on the Milltown road due to drivers trying to avoid the new QBC on the Stillorgan road.
How can we believe that the Milltown road has suffered an increase in congestion? It seems to be as congested as any other main route at rush hour, and there could be many reasons why there may be an increase in congestion on any particular day.
I would suggest that the road lobby, which includes the AA, is using every method, including biased Roadwatch reports, to insist on full car access throughout our city despite the resultant congestion and pollution.
Is it correct and proper that RTE allows or even pays for AA Roadwatch to broadcast its inherent bias on national radio? Should not an independent body, with no bias for any particular form of transport, be entrusted with the task of informing us of traffic movements and blockages on our national roads? - Yours, etc., Muredach Doherty,
