Madam, - I write to highlight the negative impact that activities involving the moving of earth may be having on our rivers. When earth is moved near rivers or streams, and rainfall occurs, aquatic life may be smothered by the resulting loads of sediment in the waterways,
It would be simple, in most cases, to install sediment traps or build settlement lagoons, to reduce this damaging impact.
Do we always have to rely on the EU for environmental legislation? Could the Minister not act on this very widespread problem? Our land is part of our heritage. - Yours, etc.,
