Madam, - Denise Kelleher's letter (July 31st) deprecating attempts to undermine the SSIA Scheme voices the concern of a significant segment of the people. The fact that those already wealthy are not debarred from its benefits in no way invalidates the scheme's worth for the much more numerous people of modest means, for whom it is nothing short of a godsend. Any default by the Government in its obligations to the participants in this much-trumpeted scheme following fairly closely on the heels of the Eircom shares fiasco, which left many people in this same category with burnt fingers would, so to speak, be a case of heaping Pelion on Ossa. - Yours, etc.,
