Sir, - I note with interest the letter of Mr Des Cryan of the Catholic Press and Information Office (July 21st). While I'm glad he lists the enlightening relevant articles of the Catechism as quoted by His Holiness, the Pope, I for one can say that as a person with "deep-seated homosexual tendencies", I have never found "respect, compassion and sensitivity" from, of all places, the Catholic Church.
Perhaps the Church should lead the world in its compassion and try to instigate dialogue, understanding and acceptance of homosexuals, instead of "bashing" us, every chance it gets. - Yours, etc.,
