Sir, - The terrible tragedy of Omagh unites the whole island in grief and anger. David Trimble's call for a special day of mourning should be extended to the whole country. Besides being the worst outrage of the present Troubles, it represents an even more blatant attack on the rights and wishes of the people of Ireland than such terrible events as Bloody Sunday, the Dublin/Monaghan bombings and Enniskillen.
On the 200th anniversary of 1798, these "republicans" have united Catholic, Protestant and Dissenter in the common name of victim. - Yours, etc., Liam Mulligan,
Killeen Road, Dublin 6.
