Madam, - Some people who read my short note on the lady golfers of Portmarnock (July 28th) may have got the impression that the writer was anti-female in golf club terms.
Not so. But it would be true that I have scant regard for the ladies who threaten to disrupt the Irish Open on a course that tamed the best.
Ballinrobe has the ideal solution, where ladies are full members and the president is chosen every three years from the ladies' branch.
We are also very proud of our golf course which is well worth a visit; especially from the Portmarnock ladies branch. But let's not be sexist; the men are also welcome. - Yours, etc.,
