Madam, - I was delighted to read ( May 31st) of Fine Gael's call for the abandonment of neutrality. This policy was reasonable in the second World War and the Cold War but in a world where smaller crises can break out at any moment, neutrality restricts Ireland's ability to respond to abuses of international law and human rights (e.g. Kosovo, the Congo). I appeal to the Government parties to adopt this realistic policy and request the Labour and Green parties to wake up to reality. - Yours, etc.,
BRIAN HOGAN, Limerick.
