Madam, - According to Roger Cole (Opinion, May 27th), "PANA believes that a willingness not to die in other people's wars is at least as important as paying taxes".
The willingness to fight for the interests of others is one of the foundations of civilisation. Had history been just a little different, and had Ireland had come under the boot of the Nazis until liberated by citizens of a foreign country, I very much doubt if anyone in Ireland would be taking Mr Cole seriously. - Yours, etc.,
