Sir, - Phil McGiolla Bhain (November 22nd) makes the extraordinary statement that "this is a feminist state".
If this were really a feminist state (with 51 per cent of the Government women to match the general population), women who were sacked from their jobs before 1973 for getting married would now be getting massive compensation for loss of earnings, plus a decent pension in due course.
This is only one example of what a truly feminist state would do. Other readers will probably have lots of other ideas.
