Madam, - As I happen to be preparing a paper for an international conference on European maritime history in Barcelona in November which requires an outline of the history of the port of Dublin, I was naturally fascinated by the account in your edition of September 24th of the clear, informative and optimistic report by Captain Connellan, the port's chief executive, on the port's present splendid development.
It did make you wonder who exactly the ladies and gentlemen are into whose purses and pockets our Minister for Marine wants to divert profits made by the present excellent handling of our leading port. - Yours, etc.,
