Madam, - I note that consultants are threatening industrial action over the Department of Health's refusal to continue paying their medical indemnity insurance for their private hospitals and clinics. As a taxpayer, am I missing something here? Why should the taxpayer pay to insure a consultant's private business? Its bad enough that that their private work in public hospitals will still be covered under the new arrangements. - Yours, etc.,
