Sir, - I believe Cardinal Connell's choice of words describing Archbishop Empey were dismissive, off-the-cuff and unhelpful; however I also believe Archbishop Empey's negative remarks concerning Papal authority and the behaviour of some Catholics, equally, if not more devisive when it comes to inter-church dialogue. Why did he feel it necessary or even appropriate to judge the moral behaviour of members of a church other than his own. and how would he be in a position to make such a judgement?
I believe the new book being published would have been more accurate if each church leader had commented on events and situations in their own churches. Yours, etc.,
D. O'Connor, Rathmines, Dublin 6 .
